Quick & Easy Cardmaking Monday #10 with Punches

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for popping in for a quick blog post. It's quick and easy cardmaking Monday and I have a couple of great crafting tricks for you.

If you have been crafting with dies, you know that it can be quite time consuming especially if you are making multiple projects. I love to use punches. I have a collection of circle punches that are quick and easy to layer. I know there are many layering shape dies (and I have those as well), but punches allow you to work quickly without the need for machines.

For my card today I used the 2 1/4" and 2 3/8" Circle Punches. I also used the Terrific Toadstools punch and coordiating stamp set. This is a great bundle, because you don't have to worry about the time it takes to stamp an image and then try and line it up in the punch. One of the tricks I mentioned in my video is to simply punch out several of the mushroom tops in Basic White CS. Because the stamps are slightly larger than the punch, you can stamp after the mushroom tops are punched. There isn't any white border to worry about.

This "fun fold" card is super easy to make. I used 1 sheet of the Terrific Toadstools DSP. This is a 6" x 6" DSP pack that is a FREE Sale-A-Bration pick. You cannot purchase this paper, but you can earn it with a $60 order in February.

Here is how to make this card:
  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" Granny Apple Green CS
  • Score at 1 1/2" and at 4 1/4"
  • Fold the card in half and then fold the 1 1/2" score back
  • With the DSP, cut it to 5 1/4" (be sure the design is going the correct direction).
  • Then turn the DSP to the 6" side
  • Cut at 2 3/4", 1 1/8", (you will then have a 2 1/8" piece as well)
  • Glue the pieces down as you see in the image

  • You can see that the 2 3/4" piece is adhered to the front "flap" of the card. Only glue the DSP to that "flap"
  • You can watch my YouTube video for more details on how to adhere the DSP to the card.

Thanks again for stopping in for my Quick and Easy Cardmaking Monday post. I hope you enjoyed my "fun fold" today and tips on using punches to make quick cards. Check out the supplies I used for this card, and don't forget about earning those FREE Sale-A-Bration picks. Time is running out!

Until Next Time..
Mary
