Finding Inspiration Friday
A Look to the Past
Hi Everyone,
I'm so glad you stopped in today. I wanted to share with you my inspiration today with antique greeting card postcards. My daughter and I love to go to antique shops. I have been collecting very old greeting postcards for all occasions. Because I hand make cards, I was inspired to give the antique cards new life. The cards I have are from the 1890s to 1920s. Here are a couple of my projects I created using Stampin' Up! card stock and accessories with the postcards.
This Birthday Greetings postcard was mailed in 1907 to someone in Minnesota. It is amazing how well Stampin' Up! colors can coordinate with the beautiful postcards. For this card, I used Shaded Spruce cardstock with Poppy Parade. I added a lacy detail on the base of the card using the Touches of Textures Stamp set. The 1/2" Lace Trim and Artisan Pearl Embellishments really add to the vintage feel.
With these postcards, I'm amazed at the embossed textures as well as the gold accents throughout. This card is in such great condition and has a bit of wear which adds to the wonderful vintage feel of the project.
I absolutely loved creating this project! I used Cherry Cobbler Cardstock with Garden Green and Very Vanilla Cardstocks. For more texture, I used the Holly Embossing Folder as well as the Stitched Shapes Framelits. This original postcard is from 1911. I cut along the edge of the leaves and poinsettias.
Up close you can really see how deep the embossed details are on the postcard. The colors are so rich and coordinate perfectly with Stampin' Up! colors. I accented the center of the flowers with pearls and a greeting from Nature Sings Stamp set.
Thank you so much for stopping in. I have really been inspired with the antique postcards and the history behind them. Again, I'm impressed with the Stampin' Up! colors. They are so rich and of high quality.
